How Mommy and Me Registry came to be
Hi, I’m Amanda!
I am a new momma who is super passionate about parents being able to take the time off that they deserve to be with their growing families!
I have worked in the hospitality industry for 14 years, 9 of those years as a manager. During that time I have watched way too many of my friends, family, and employees have babies and return to work far sooner than they had to and wanted to because they could not afford to stay home without paid maternity leave. Sadly, this is true for so many families since only a small handful of states have a paid leave policy. This left me thinking, how can we make this situation better for new parents?
Fast forward to 2019 when my husband Matt and I started family planning. I grabbed my employee handbook and quickly discovered that I too do not have paid maternity leave AND my state doesn’t offer paid disability either. WHAT?! I started looking at my options and realized that a registry fund that friends and family could give to would be a great option to help parents be able to stay home with a little more comfort. Enter Mommy and Me Registry!
My main goal is that this helps families of all shapes and sizes all over the country to be able to stay home to enjoy and adjust to their new normal!
